THE STATUE IS MADE OF FIBERGLASS./POLASEK USED ONLY ONE HAND TO EXECUTE/THE WORK, HIS LEFT HAND BEING DISABLED./IT WAS DONE IN HIS 85TH YEAR OF LIFE, IN 1963,/AND IS A GIFT OF THE ARTIST TO SAINT LEO/FOR ITS OWN MEMORIAL. (On separate plaque:) IN GRATEFUL AND EVERLASTING MEMORY/OF OUR SAINT LEO BOYS WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE IN WORLD WAR II/(Two rows of fifteen names)/THEY SHALL RISE IN CHRIST signed

    Full-length figure of Christ, who appears to be floating. He wears a loosely draped shroud and his hands are clasped to his chest. A group of six winged putti heads float at his feet.
