    Description: 
    A marble sculpture of St. Joseph and Child placed at the main entrance of St. Joseph Hospital. St. Joseph is seen barefoot, in robes, with proper right hand to chest, holding flowers. The child is on St. Joseph's proper left and stands gazing upward. He holds a broken cross in his proper left hand.

    Remarks: 
    Statue was initially installed in front of original St. Joseph Infirmary on Fourth Street in Louisville, where it remained from approximately 1853 to 1926. In 1926, when St. Joseph Infirmary built its new home at Eastern Parkway and Preston Streets, the statue was moved and placed above the entrance to the new building. When additional remodelling was done and the entrance was changed to the Preston Street side, the statue was moved to the center panel of the building facing Eastern Parkway.
