    Description:
A three-dimensional, two-toned, laser-cut, stainless steel and polished naval brass cross within a cross. The exterior cross, which appears to be two intersecting crosses that form a double cross, is cut out in the middle to highlight an interior cross that seems to be floating. The exterior cross has a double beveled edge. There is a fine, stainless steel border around the brass. The sculpture is mounted atop a square, two-tiered, black granite base, surrounded by lights.

It is based on a contemporary version of the "mercy cross," and serves as a marker for the Centennial Time Capsule. IAS files contain related materials, including the artist's mechanical drawings of the sculpture layout. IAS files contain a related article from the St. John's Regional Health Center newsletter, In Touch (Nov. 14, 1991), pg. 1.
