An elaborate four-sided flagpole base with soldiers at each corner. A Civil War soldier, dressed in uniform with visored cap, stands facing west, leaning his proper right hand on the barrel of his rifle. On the south side a World War I doughboy stands with upraised proper right hand. He wears a helmet, wrap-around leggings, breeches, a waist-length jacket and an ammunition belt. The figure facing east is a sailor from the Spanish-American War. His proper right hand is at his waist and he wears a seaman's cap and a kerchief around his open collar. The fourth figure does not seem to be in uniform, except for his ammunition belt. He has his arms crossed in front of his chest and wears an open shirt with sleeves rolled up. An arrow lies at his feet.
