    Remarks:
The statue was a gift to the city of Cincinnati from Civil War veteran Captain Charles B. Clinton. The sculpture is installed at a busy intersection near the demolished Samuel Ach Junior High School. At the time of the dedication, the names of 2,000 pupils who attended the dedication were placed in the cornerstone, along with a letter from Robert T. Lincoln, 1902 coins, the Bible, Cincinnati newspapers, and seeds grown in the Ohio Valley. This sculpture is one of two casts --the original stands in Bunker Hill, Illinois (IAS record IL000142).
