    Description: 
    Streetlamp with glass basket suspended within a wrought-iron cage supported by an iron column decorated with scroll-work and naturalistic vines. Streetlamp is mounted on the exterior southwest corner of the bank building.

    Remarks: 
    Brush invented the electrical arc light in 1878 and a public demonstration was held on April 29, 1879. Campen's text lists date of this street lamp as ca. 1890 and claims, when affixed to the bank exterior, this was the first outdoor lighting fixture in America. The lamp was later converted to an incandescent lamp. It was sculpture was dismantled, restored, and reinstalled, sometime probably after its 1946 re-lighting for Cleveland's Sesquicentennial.
