Brush invented the electrical arc light in 1878 and a public demonstration was held on April 29, 1879. The lamp was later converted to an incandescent lamp. It was sculpture was dismantled, restored, and reinstalled, sometime probably after its 1946 re-lighting for Cleveland's Sesquicentennial.
