In the center of the pediment is a woman seated on a throne flanked by altars containing fruit. She represents the industries of banking and commerce and she's flanked by the symbols which make the banking business possible. The three figures to her proper left represent uses of land for Industrial Labor, Agriculture, and Mining. The three figures to her proper right represent the importance of water for Commerce, Navigation, and Fishing. At the extreme ends of the pediment are images of fish and fowl, which continue the symbolism of land and water.
