    Description: 
    A Civil War soldier stands in uniform at parade rest, holding the barrel of his rifle with both hands, the butt of which rests by his feet. He wears a visored cap and jacket, and a cartridge pouch is strapped to his belt on his proper right. A bayonet is to the soldier's proper left side. The soldier stands before a tree stump and is mounted upon a multitiered base, with a shaft-like upper section with inscriptions and plaques.
