Richardson/Soldiers of Liberty. (On front of base:) Sam Cochran/An Honored Citizen/A True Freemason and Christian gentleman. signed Founder's mark appears.
    Description: 
    Full-length figure of Samuel P. Cochran stands on a nearly square base. The figure wears full Mason regalia and holds a plumed hat in his proper right hand. A sword hangs from his proper right hip. He appears to be balding and has a moustache.

    Remarks: 
    Commissioned by twelve classes of the Scottish Rite for $25,000 in honor of Samuel Poyntz Cochran (1855-1936), the Sovereign Grand Inspector General of the Masons in Dallas. The base has been cleaned several times. IAS files include related articles from the Scottish Rite Herald, Nov. 20 [1920] and "Memorabilia Samuel Poyntz Cochran," 1936, by Mrs. John Kibbey Blackstone.
