    Description: 
    An abstract mural representing the geological panorama seen from any point on the San Juan Canyons. Comprised of over 290 individual tiles, the mural depicts a composite view from within the Valle Grande, looking northeast along the rim of peaks and toward the source of the Jemez River.

    The mural was commissioned by the San Juan College Arts Committee. The mural cost $3,000, its installation cost $2,100. Funds were provided by Los Alamos County's One Percent for the Arts project.
    Plaque on wall below sculpture reads: SAN JUAN LANDSCAPE/BY SAM TUBIOLO, 1988/A CONCEPT OF THE SAN JUAN BASIN/DEPICTING THE ORIGINS OF ITS RIVERS, THE ESSENCE OF ITS CANYONS/THE FORMATION OF ITS MOUNTAINS FROM THE STORM OF THE PAST/INTO THE SUNLIGHT OF THE PRESENT/COMMISSIONED BY THE/SAN JUAN COLLEGE ARTS COMMITTEE.
