    Description: 
    Portrait of James Pinckney Henderson seated. He wears a three-piece suit and bow-tie. His proper left hand is resting on his knee and his proper right hand is resting on the semicircular bench upon which he is sitting. The sculpture is mounted upon a circular base with a square lower base, set within a planter containing two time capsules.

    Remarks: 
    Commemorates James Pinckney Henderson (1808-1858). He was Attorney General of the Republic, 1836; Secretary of State, 1836-1837; Special Minister to England and France, 1837-1839; Minister to the United States, 1844; First Governor of Texas, 1846-1847; United States Senator, 1858. Memorial was erected by the State of Texas with funds appropriated by the federal government to commemorate the centennial of Texas independence.
    Granite markers identify the accompanying time capsules as a Bi-Centennial Time Capsule 1976; and a Sesquicentennial Time Capsule to be opened March 2, 2036.
