Sculpture portrays the Virgin Mary, seated with Christ's body supported on her lap. Her proper right hand lifts his torso to sitting position; her proper left elevates his proper left. His proper right arm hangs limp by his side; on the ground, near the hand, lies the crown of thorns. Christ's proper right foot is crossed over his proper left. The Virgin gazes downwards.
