Description:
A grouping of four figures positioned atop front wall of a restaurant. She is dressed in a bejeweled ornamental gown, perhaps medieval in period, and an elaborate headpiece with hanging pendants and topped by a finial. She sits in a high-backed chair and rests her proper left arm upon a shield emblazoned with an insignia. To her proper left sits a bearded male figure whose upper torso is unclothed. He grasps an anchor with his proper left hand and leans on a stack of books with his proper right arm. To the central figure's proper right side is a partially clad female figure cradling a child in her lap.

Remarks:
The sculpture dating from around 1914 was originally located on the parapet over the front entrance of the Rossia Insurance Company headquarters in Hartford. In 1939, the company became part of the Northeastern Insurance Company of Hartford. When the building was demolished in the 1970s, the sculpture was moved to its present location by its owner, a partner in The Russian Lady restaurant.
