    Remarks:
Rhea Stadium was constructed during the mid-1930s as a project of the Works Progress Administration. The stadium was dedicated at the end of the 1939 football season and rededicated at a formal ceremony before the start of the 1940 football season. The stadium was named after Thomas Rhea Sr., a local political figure who spearheaded the effort to have the stadium built in Russellville. In 1980 the stadium was renovated. Rhea Stadium has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Most Outstanding Works Progress Administration project in Kentucky. Plaques between box office windows inside main entrance read: RHEA STADIUM/HAS BEEN PLACED ON THE/NATIONAL REGISTER/OF HISTORIC PLACES/BY THE UNITED STATES/DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR/CONSTRUCTED IN COOPERATION WITH/THE/WORKS PROGRESS ADMINISTRATION/IN KENTUCKY/1939.
