Remarks:
The work was exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts One Hundred Eighth Annual Exhibition with the title "The Old Lane." The painting was also exhibited in Ellen Axson Wilson's one-woman show at the Arts and Crafts Guild, Philadelphia, 1913. The painting was one of two Ellen Axson Wilson paintings featured in the Ladies' Home Journal (May 1913). According to the article, the paintings were "regarded by her as among the best she has ever painted." IAP files contain copies of the pages from Ladies' Home Journal (May 1913) with illustration and descriptive text for the painting.
