Description:
An eagle with wings spread is perched on a ball, atop a tall rough granite pillar. The eagle and ball are painted gold. The tiered granite pillar or base contains two relief plaques and is surrounded by a fence.

Remarks:
The sculpture honors the soldiers and sailors of old Hudson City who fought during World War I. It was installed in Riverview Park by the Dew Drop League of Jersey City with funds raised through public subscription. The sculpture was dedicated on Memorial Day, 1922. The top dedication plaque was added October 19, 1947 when the park was renamed in honor Captain Clinton E. Fisk. IAS files contain a photocopy of souvenir program from dedication.
