    Description: 
    A uniformed Confederate soldier and a woman in period dress stand atop a decorative pedestal on a tiered base. The figures face each other, with the soldier holding out his proper left hand. He holds a rifle at the center, in his proper right hand. The woman is extending a flagstaff with flag, held diagonally in both hands.

    Remarks: 
    Erected under the auspices of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis Chapter no. 216. The Board of Supervisors of Yazoo County appropriated $3,000 for the monument and the Board of Aldermen of the Yazoo City appropriated $500. The local chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy raised the remaining $1,500 needed. The inscription was composed by Sam S. Griffin, then Chancery Clerk for the County and also a Confederate veteran.
