    Shepherd with drooping moustache and short, rounded beard, holding a staff and wearing a tan-colored high-collared cloak and a hat. Three sheep are grazing in front of him, while the rest of his flock grazes behind him. There are woods in the background.

    The date inscription on the painting is illegible, but believed to be either 1892, 1893, or 1898. Although the painting is said to have been made in Katwijk aan Zee, Netherlands, the figure is said to resemble a typical shepherd of the Normandy region of France. Provenance information is restricted.
