Lampert Cooper, 222 West 59th Street, New York Description:  "City street scene with two people, a woman appearing to be doing laundry, and a man walking away carrying a large bundle. There is a foot bridge over a canal, with fencing having ornate railings. Stairs lead down to the water; several buildings with odd rooflines." A label on the back of the painting reads: Geo. H. Brodhead/FINE ART, 150 East Avenue, Rochester, NY. Additional markings on back include framer's notations, prices, and a name, possibly Mr. (or Mrs.) Williams (or Williamson). The painting was framed by (and possibly sold by) George H. Brodhead, an artist and dealer in Rochester, New York. George Brodhead dealt with many paintings by Emma Lampbert Cooper after the artist's death. The artist lived and taught in Rochester during the late 1880s until her marriage and move in 1897. The artist's address stamped on the back of the painting is the Gainsborough Studio Apartments, where the artist lived in New York City from approximately 1907-1908. References:  Owner, 2001.
