A portrait of Abigail Adams standing with her proper left hand on the shoulder of her young son, John Quincy Adams, who carries a book. The figures are portrayed as they would have looked in 1776 when Abigail was thirty-one and her son John Quincy was ten. The sculpture is installed on a rectangular granite base.
