    Owner:
Administered by City of Gloucester City, Gloucester City, New Jersey
Located Proprietors Park, King Street at Orange, Gloucester City, New Jersey

Formerly in the collection of Thompson, William, Gloucester City, New Jersey 1890-1920s.
    Remarks:
The sculpture was brought from France around 1890 by William Thompson, "Duke of Gloucester" and placed on his estate. When the estate was demolished in the 1920s to make way for what is now a Coast Guard Station, the sculpture was salvaged. And in 1929, it was reinstalled at its present site, when the Camden County Parks Commission created the new riverfront park. IAS files contain a related article from the Courier-Post, Feb. 27, 1981, pg. 5E, which indicates that the figure's nudity has been controversial.
