Remarks:
William Procter was a Cincinnati industrialist and president of Procter and Gamble. The monument was funded with employee contributions. IAS files contain a copy of the dedication program and an article on the dedication from the Cincinnati Enquirer, June 8, 1939. The Cincinnati Enquirer article and the SOS! survey note that the medium is marble, but the Richard Campen publication, "Outdoor Sculpture in Ohio," notes that the medium is limestone.
