Remarks:
The sculpture was paid for by the State of New Jersey as part of a program marking historic spots in Union County. Cost of the sculpture was $1,800. The parcel of land on which the sculpture stands was deeded by the Presbyterian Church to the State in 1905. Although the state owns the sculpture and land, the Presbyterian Church assumes responsibility for the sculpture. The sculpture marks the Battle of Springfield which took place June 23, 1780.
