Remarks:
The fountain was Seattle's first public fountain. Father Francis X. Prefontaine was a prominent figure in late 19th century Seattle, and was responsible for building the city's first Catholic church. When he died in 1911, Father Prefontaine left the city $5,000 to build a fountain. Gould designed the fountain and the park that it sits in.
