Sculpture: polished stainless steel; Base: terazzo.

Sculpture: approx. H. 8 ft.; Base: approx. W. 10 x D. 10 ft.

An abstract sculpture comprised of two pieces of highly polished wrought stainless steel. The taller of the elements is "J" shaped. The vertical aspect tapers as its height increases. The second piece is somewhat a "C" shape, with a twist that overlaps the horizontal aspect of the first piece. The sides of both elements are a combination of convex and concave curves. The sculpture is set on a thin terazzo base comprised of nine blocks of a neutral beige color and set within a reflecting pool approximately 90 x 40 feet.

The sculpture was commissioned by Max Abramovitz, architect of the building. The Phoenix building was part of the downtown Hartford renovation that occurred when Constitution Plaza was built 1962-1964.
