    Inscription: 
    (Bronze plaques on all four sides of base:) (Front:) "Erected by the Residents of People's Park as a tribute to those from the community who served the United States and the Allies during The Great War 1914-1918. Died in Service (17 names)" (Each of the other plaques is headed "HONOR ROLL," listing, respectively, 144, 128 and 144 names, plus 5 names of Red Cross Nurses) unsigned
    Description: 
    A uniformed World War I soldier stands with his arms folded at his chest, wearing a campaign hat, jacket, leggings, ammunition belt, and a bayonet. The soldier holds the remains of a rifle in his proper left hand. (Portions of the original rifle can also be found at the figure's proper right foot). On the soldier's back is blanket roll with a gas mask case and canteen below it. An artillery mortar piece is behind the soldier's proper left leg. The soldier is mounted upon a multitiered, square base with plaques on all four sides, including Honor Rolls on the sides and back.
