Description:
Sculptural elements on doors of church and figurative architectural component of Virgin and Child on long base in arched niche above doors. Door elements are carved blocks bearing the names of St. Gerard on the left door, and St. Alphonsus on the right door. Names appear on curling ribbons, which also include decorative carvings of a cross and lilies on the left, and a small figure of Mary surrounded by vegetation on the right. Figurative sculpture depicts a bust of Mary holding a full-length baby Jesus. Both wear gold crowns and are dressed in bluish-green garments.

Remarks:
The sculpture and the doors were restored by Melissa Koch of Kudos Design, Kansas City, ca. 1986. The wood was painted, and cracked seams were reglued and filled. Metal brackets on doors were also replaced.
