    A figure of a miner, on his proper right knee panning for gold. He wears a hat, shirt with the sleeves rolled up, vest, and pants that are tucked in knee-length boots. He holds a pan with both hands in front of him.

    Remarks: 
    Claude Chana (1811-1882) was an adventurer and first fruit rancher in Placer County. In 1848, he found a gold in the Auburn Ravine which led to a settlement in this area.
