(On proper right back of bench:) DAVID OWEN DODD, A SOUTHERN BOY OF 17, WHEN LEAVING FOR HIS/HOUSE IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE STATE, WAS ARRESTED, TRIED/BY FEDERAL COURT MARTIAL AND HANGED IN FRONT OF OLD/ST. JOHN'S COLLEGE, LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. (On proper left back of bench:) PAPERS FOUND ON DAVID'S PERSON REVEALED VALUABLE INFORMATION/TO THE CONFEDERATE FORCES.     Description: 
    Relief portrait bust of David O. Dodd. The bust is in a medallion on the front face of a shaft. The top of the shaft is arched and is decorated with bas-relief ornamentation. The shaft is centered in the back of a bench. The bench stands on a stepped base. The sculpture is of white marble. The bench and shaft are grey marble.
