    Description: 
    A large, square, 4-stepped concrete pad with a low circular pillar in the center on which stands a flagpole. On the steps at each corner of the pad are circular concrete pedestals. On each pedestal stands a full-length, life-size figure in bronze of an infantryman (to the south), a cavalryman (east), a sailor (north), and an artilleryman (west). Each of the figures faces outward. The infantryman wears a uniform, kepi cap and has a backpack and bedroll. He stands at parade rest; his hands in front of his stomach as if holding a (missing) rifle. Hanging from his belt is a bayonet in scabbord and a cartridge pouch. The cavalryman stands with his proper left thumb hooked under his belt. In his proper right hand he holds the hilt of a saber. He is dressed in uniform, wears a full-brimmed hat and a moustache. He has a holster with a revolver and wears boots with spurs. The sailor stands with his proper left arm held up, hand cupped as if looking into the distance. He wears a sailor's uniform and a cap. The artilleryman stands with a revolver in his proper right hand and a ramrod in his proper left hand. The butt of the ramrod is on the ground. He wears a uniform and a kepi.

    Remarks: 
    The Antietam Circle Statues are part of a larger Antietam Circle Civil War Monument, which includes an obelisk, two Civil War cannon and a rotunda, as well as graves of Civil War veterans and their dependents. The sculpture was restored sometime in 1989 or 1990.
