Inscription:  (On front of base, incised:) ERECTED IN MEMORY OF/UNKNOWN SOLDIERS OF THE/UNION ARMY/1861-65/BY FORT DONELSON POST NO. 236 FORT DOGE (sic)/AND CITIZENS OF WEBSTER COUNTY IOWA/UNVEILED MAY 30, 1900 Description:  Civil War soldier in uniform stands at parade rest. He holds the barrel of his rifle with hands, and its butt is on the ground by his proper right foot. A tree stump is on his proper left side.
