Inscription:  unsigned Description:  A robed, long-haired angel with full wings stands barefoot on a rock formation. She braces an open book on her proper right thigh, writing in it with a quill that she holds in her proper left hand. She looks down at the book, holding it with her proper left hand. The sculpture is set upon a foundation. Subject:  Religion -- Angel Recreation -- Leisure -- Writing Object -- Written Matter -- Book Object -- Other -- Writing Tool Object Type:  Outdoor Sculpture -- Indiana -- Ossian Sculpture Owner:  Oak Lawn Cemetery, 701 Highland Avenue, SR 1, Ossian, Indiana 46617 Remarks:  The origin of the sculpture is uncertain, although it was placed at its current site in 1959. A nearly identical angel is in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton, Indiana (see IAS IN000712). Local folklore suggests that they were done by an itinerant carver, or that they came from Italy.
