Inscription:  (Front below bronze plaque:) 1861-1865 (Lower front:) ERECTED/IN HONOR OF OUR/LOYAL SOLDIERS/AND SAILORS unsigned Description:  A granite shaft with a ball on the top. There is a bronze plaque on the front near the top which depicts an eagle with widespread wings, crossed flags and crossed swords.
