    Description: 
    A granite shaft with a ball on the top. There is a bronze plaque on the front near the top which depicts an eagle with widespread wings, crossed flags and crossed swords.

    Remarks: 
    Dedication ceremonies Sept. 10, 1890, featured a parade and presentation of the monument by the town to the West Haven Veterans Memorial Association. The outdoor ceremonies were followed by a collation, with afterward dinner speeches by prominent members of the G.A.R.
