    Description: 
    Circular medallion of profile of Bjornson located in the center of a stele. Below the medallion are cast metal oak leaf branches bearing acorns. Stele, which is rough in surface texture, sits on a rectalinear concrete slab base.

    Remarks: 
    Commissioned by Dr. Herman O. Fjelde. At the time of the dedication, the University was called North Dakota Agricultural College. The text on the back of the stele are the words to the Norwegian National Anthem, written by Bjornstjerne Bjornson. SOS! survey and Heitmann report list medallion media as bronze; Fargo Forum article says brass. IAS files contain copy of related article from Fargo Forum (Fargo, ND), June 23, 1935 and an excerpt from North Dakota Quarterly, autumn 1981.
