Description:
A structure made of vertical and horizontal four-sided columns of cedar wood, painted "Radisson brown." The structure is designed to resemble the cement cradles that supported acid vats used to make explosives during World War II. The vertical columns are two sizes, 10 feet or 20 feet high, and each is topped by an anodized aluminum cap. White vinyl letters run along two or more of the vertical columns. Cement piers (30 inches in diameter, sunk 10 feet into the ground) support the upright columns of the structure.

Remarks:
The sculpture replaces an original structure built in 1974 by the New York State Urban Development Corporation. Sergei Yevich was the staff architect and coordinator for the original piece, which was replaced in 1987 because it had deteriorated. The new replacement piece is not an exact copy of the original. Lewis Olmsted and Dayspring Construction built the replacement. For further reading see from "Radisson Reflections," 1988; and "From the Beginning," Radisson Community Association, Jan. 1976.
