Group of four free-standing pieces and two reliefs with the theme of firefighting and police protection located outside and inside of the combined police and fire station. "Three of the pieces are located outside the building along the wheelchair ramp for the police station. They consist of a standing firefighter carrying a child, a burning building, and a mounted policeman. Just inside the outer entrance door to the police station is a standing portrait of Captain John J. Mount, the commander of the Nineteenth Precinct during the period when the original building was completed (1886). In the second floor lobby there is a paneled relief depicting a New York street scene involving a number of police activities. In the third floor lobby there is a relief containing a series of small scenes of police activities intermixed with a series of portrait heads of the Police Department Commissioners of the period when the original building was under construction."

Remarks:
Title supplied by Inventory cataloger.
IAS image files contain photographs of only the three exterior sculptures. The figure of Capt. Mount and the portrait heads on the third floor relief are based on etchings from the book "Our Police Protectors" published by the Police Pension Fund in 1885. The small scenes on the third floor relief were based on photographs provided by the Police Department Museum. IAS files contain detailed descriptions and the SOS! surveyor's illustrations of the interior reliefs. IAS files also contain a considerable number of articles which discuss the renovation of the historic fire and police station building; however, none of the articles discusses the sculptures.
