    Description: 
    Figure of a Civil War soldier standing at rest atop a tall pedestal. He wears full uniform and holds the barrel of a rifle in his hands; the butt of the gun rests on the ground near his feet. Below the figure are four motifs, raised and polished, one on each face of the pedestal: the G.A.R. emblem; the crossed swords of the Artillery; the crossed sabers of the Cavalry; an anchor for the Navy. Below the motifs are bronze plaques with texts, one on each face of the pedestal. The pedestal sits on a granite base.
