    Description: 
    The Virgin Mary holding the dead body of Christ in her lap. The sculpture is set within a niche flanked on either side by two bronze angels atop rock bases. Each angel holds what appears to be an electric torch in an upraised hand.

    Remarks: 
    The Grotto is staffed by the Order of the Servants of Mary. It was founded in 1924 by Servite Friar Ambrose Mayer, who envisioned a place of retreat for experiencing the presence of God in nature. The sculptures were added at later various times. The Pieta is a replica of Michelangelo's Pieta.
