Located Nashua Public Library, Court Street terrace between the Library and the Nashua Center for the Arts, Nashua, New Hampshire
    Remarks:
The sculpture was commissioned by the trustees of the Nashua Public Library using monies from the Burbank Fund, a trust fund established by Nashua businessman Leonard Freeman Burbank to provide public artwork in the City of Nashua. According to the artist, the sculpture represents the harmony of science and art: "the elegant fluid lines and rhythmic compositions of my work has (sic) a strong presence of music and dance. Yet the geometric mechanical perfection of the helix and rectangular elements undeniably suggest science and technology..." Nearby plaque reads: -SYNERGY-/By Obie B. Simonis/1982-1984 (copyright symbol)/Made possible by the Generosity of/Leonard F. Burbank. IAS files contain a copy of the artist's sculpture proposal and an article giving history of Burbank fund.
