Dimensions:  Sculpture: approx. H. 24 ft.; Base: approx. 42 in. x 52 in. x 4 ft. Inscription:  unsigned Description:  A large totem with the bust and elongated head of a Native-American man. He has a wide headband adorned with a single feather. The sculpture is on a short, square base. Subject:  Figure male -- Bust Ethnic -- Indian Dress -- Accessory -- Hat Object Type:  Outdoor Sculpture -- Virginia -- Virginia Beach Totem pole Sculpture Owner:  Administered by City of Virginia Beach, Landscape Services, 2565 Glebe Road, Municipal Center, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23456 Located Mount Trashmore City Park, Virginia Beach, Virginia Remarks:  The artist is a Hungarian immigrant, and during the bicentennial in 1976 he wanted to pay tribute to Native Americans in this way and to thank this country for taking him in. The artist is reputed to have begun this venture in Virginia Beach and then traveled to other cities all over the nation for the same purpose.
