Description:
A Spanish-American War soldier, dressed in a loose-fitting uniform and campaign hat, stands with his hands on his rifle, the butt of which rests on the ground. A satchel is strapped across his body and rests at his proper left rear. The sculpture is mounted on a rectangular stepped base of rough-hewn stone with a tapered upper section decorated with the Spanish-American War Veteran emblem.

Remarks:
The sculpture honors the soldiers and sailors who served in the Spanish American War. The sculpture was given to the William A. Bancroft Camp No. 16 of the United Spanish-American War Veterans by the City of Racine. IAS files contain an article from the Racine Daily Journal, May 26, 1909; and an undated article from Racine Review.
