    Remarks: 
    Accoring to "The Artist's Record Book A" (pg. 50), "Footpath, Virginia" was painted in Charlottesville in August of 1908 when Bellows was teaching art classes for six weeks at the University of Virginia. The painting was given to one of the students in his class, Marie Ellis Bowles, the summer it was completed. It is one of three works the artist completed in the South.
