Bicentennial Granite, (sculpture). Artist:  Williams, Jerry, sculptor. Title:  Bicentennial Granite, (sculpture). Dates:  Dedicated July 13, 1991. Medium:  Barre granite. Dimensions:  Approx. 15 x 2 x 2 ft. Inscription:  (Incised vertically west side:) MONTPELIER (Incised vertically south side:) VERMONT Description:  A monolith with quarry marks visible on two sides, carvings on the other two faces. The carvings allude to Montpelier's festival and civic natures. The tents and banners are the logo for the city's Midsummer Celebration. A statehouse dome with statue of Ceres represents municipal buildings in Montpelier. The lettering on the piece was to have been finished on site during the dedication ceremony, but rain interfered.
