(59.7 x 63.5 cm.). Description:  "Head and bust of a dark-haired young woman, head frontal, body 3/4 to left. She wears a decollete white dress with a flower at the bosom." Burnham, Mrs. (Ellen Low Pierrepont) -- Bust Object Type:  Painting Owner:  Moffat, Burnham, 3563 Deer Crest Drive, Danville, California 94506 Provenance:  Gift of Moffat, Abbot Low, Mr. & Mrs., 17-04 U Meadow Lakes, Highstown, New Jersey 08520 Remarks:  In 1973, the Historical Society of Princeton Survey reported that this painting had originally been a full length portrait measuring 7 x 4 ft., from which the signature and date, 1900, were cut when the painting was cut down to its present size in 1961. The sitter, Mrs. R. Burnham Moffat (1872-1960), was born in Brooklyn and lived in New York City. Her husband was a lawyer. When Robert Scott Wiles submitted a photograph of this painting, he reported the title simply as Portrait of a Lady.
