Medium:  Sculpture: granite; Base: granite. Dimensions:  2 columns. Sculpture: approx. 96 x 43 x 31 in.; Base: approx. 20 x 48 x 34 in. Inscription:  unsigned Description:  Two columns on either end of a walkway, each with two eagles in relief at the top. The columns are rectangular, and an eagle appears on each side. Subject:  Animal -- Bird -- Eagle Architecture -- Detail -- Column Object Type:  Architectural component Relief Outdoor Sculpture -- Minnesota -- Minneapolis Sculpture Owner:  Minneapolis Convention Center, Administration, 1301 2nd Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota Provenance:  Formerly located Grant Street & 3rd Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota 1927-1990. Remarks:  Sculpture was originally part of a 1927 auditorium which stood at Grant Street and 3rd Avenue. Each eagle was located on the upper corner of the building, and was part of four inscriptions. IAS files include the text of a nearby plaque which relates a brief history of the eagles and the original inscriptions.
