Family group consists of a father, mother and their son. The figures are seen standing, the boy to the left, dressed in overalls.

Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, New York, New York

New York World's Fair, New York, 1939-1940.

Commissioned for $8,000 by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for its exhibit in the 1939 World's Fair. IAS files contain draft of contract between the company and the artist, dated May 13, 1938; a company press release (4/26/1938), and related correspondance. IAS files also contain articles from Art Digest, dated May 1, 1938 and Jan. 15, 1939. The Jan. 15th, 1939 issue includes a photograph of the model for the sculpture. The figures' clothing changed in the final version. IAS files also contain a photograph of the sculpture as installed at the World's Fair exhibition.
