Description:
A three-tiered fountain with cranes. At the top is a bird with his beak pointing up and wings spread. Under the 2nd basin are 4 cranes with necks down, resting on their chests. Under the 3rd and largest tier are 4 cranes each in a similar pose as the top one. All the birds are painted white with yellow-orange feet & beaks. Fountain is painted green. The water falls from the highest point, the top of the crane's beak, to the successive three basins and into the base. The fountain has a legged bottom which rests on a concrete base which sits in a larger basin.

Remarks:
Inscription on tablet on nearby boulder: Centennial Fountain Dedicated July 4, 1876 In commemoration of 100th year of American Independence. This boulder and tablet placed by Evanston Historical Society 1921. The fountain was placed in storage and renovated in 1988.
