Remarks:
The artist was assisted by Bill Aigner and Ralph Hospodar, two students from the Cleveland Institute of Art. John Weaver, an expert in concrete sculpturing from Falls Church, Virginia, also assisted the artist. Concrete tubing was fitted to the rear of the fountain when the original interior hydraulic system ceased to operate. The tubing provides three water jets which shoot streams of water into the air. For related reading see Jane Boruff Tesso's "William M. McVey A Life in Sculpture: Retrospective Exhibition," Cleveland, OH: Case Western University, Mather Gallery, 1988. IAS files contain a related article about the installation of the sculpture from the Plain Dealer (Cleveland, OH), July 1, 1957.
