    Remarks: 
    This monument was commissioned by Daniel F. Crilly, president of the South Park Commission, and was cast from bronze melted down from a statue of Columbus by Howard Kretschmar, which was panned by the critics (IAS record no. 87820143). The South Park Board contributed eleven thousand dollars towards the total cost of the monument. The granite exedra was designed by architects Hunt and Hunt. John Swenson was the contractor for the pedestal.
