Description:
A battle scene with an allegorical figure of Victory is depicted in a lunette over the entrance to the Armory. Victory is in the forefront wearing a helmet, breastplate, long drapery and carrying a flag. Behind Victory there are soldiers charging with weapons drawn. One soldier lies face down beside Victory's proper right knee. Another soldier on the far right has fallen backwards. The lunette is flanked by two eagles.

Remarks:
Gift of the Womens' Board of the Fifth Regiment in honor of regiment members who served in World War I. The tablets with the names were gifts of the officers of the Fifth Regiment. The figures are actual portraits of many of the soldiers who were killed in the war. IAS files contain transcript of article from The Sun (Baltimore, MD), Jan. 23, 1924, pg. 24; and Nov. 3, 1921; and from Baltimore News, Nov. 22, 1927.
